Peace of mind testing (non-Legal)
DNA testing can offer peace of mind in determining if a biological relationship exists between donors.
Questions about paternity and simple relationships can be answered by taking a Peace of Mind DNA test.
The process is simple to start, and the application form can be downloaded here: POM application form
Complete the application form and make an appointment at one of our nominated collection centres. You can choose the collection centre that is most local to you.
Present with all people being tested to the appointment making sure to bring along the complete application with the payment section completed. Adults are preferred to have photo ID for our collector to sight.
All people on the application are to present to the appointment where mouth swabs are collected from each of them. Results are typically issued 5 working days from receipt of the samples in our laboratory. We express post the results to the nominated postal address for the report on the application form.
Please note: The sample collection process for Peace of Mind testing does not comply with the Family Law Regulations 1984 and therefore reports are not admissible for legal purposes. Testing that has been performed to the standards set by NATA or Family Law Act 1975 may avoid costly repeat testing.
Testing can determine paternity, maternity, common paternal lineage (Y chromosome analysis) and twin testing (to determine identical or non-identical twins).
Please contact the laboratory if you require further information on +61 2 9855 6199 or 1300 663 244.
